Mistaken Identity

“Are you hungry?” Charles asked.

“A little,” Briana said.

“The kitchen is this way,” he took the lead.

She followed behind him and admired the strength of his walk.  Only a man could walk like that and it looked like he had a nice butt too.  She giggled and covered her mouth with her hand.  Charles looked back at her, “What’s so funny?”

She shook her head vibrantly, “Nothing.”

“It must be something because you’re laughing now are you going to leave me hanging?”

She giggled some more, “Nice butt.”

“You think so?” he said wiggling his eyebrows.

“Yeah, I do.”

“Beautiful smile,” he said.

“Thank you.” She blushed.

In the kitchen he made stir fry vegetables and chicken.  Adding rice as their side. “Do you like sweet tea?” he asked.

“Sure.”

“If you don’t you’ll love mine.”  Charles poured her a glass of sweet tea adding a lemon and a straw. “How do you feel?”

“Like I’m from another planet.”

“Why is that?”

“Because the only thing I know for certain is that I look like everyone else.  Human I mean.  I can’t imagine that when people have memory loss it’s a full loss like this.”

“Some people do and some can remember things from their past.  It depends on the circumstance and the reason behind the memory loss.  Your accident was bad you were lucky to wake up from that coma.”

“You’re right, I shouldn’t be feeling sorry for myself.  Excuse me.”

“That’s normal, I’m sure you’ll have more questions and things on your mind as time goes along.  We’ll deal with them as they come.  Do you mind if we say grace before we eat?”

Briana was in lust with him.  She could tell by his mindset that he was not the average guy.  “No not at all.” She said.

They bowed their heads and Charles spoke to the Lord.  He asked for protection and guidance and blessings over their food.  While he prayed Briana watched him.  He was so handsome and had such a loving nature.  Could it have been possible for them to meet on such an awkward occasion?  Whatever the reason she was glad God put her in good hands.

“In Jesus name, “Amen.”

“Amen,” she said.

“I can say I remember him,” she said.

“Who?”

“Jesus.”

“And that’s really all that matters,” he responded.

“So you’re a Christian man huh?”

“I try to be.”

“No wife or kids?”

Charles put his fork down, “They died, two years ago.”

The revelation gave her pause, “I’m sorry,” she said.

“For what it wasn’t your fault.”

“I’m sorry for asking I just noticed this house is so big and not having any family here made me curious.”

“As you should be.  We never lived in this house.  This was one of the houses we’d picked out while house hunting.  Really we were just doing it for fun.  At the time we didn’t have the financial means to own a home with us trying take care of our family which was getting bigger.  She was pregnant.  Seven months.”

He hesitated.  Briana reached across the table and grabbed his hand.  “Maybe we should change the subject.” She said.

“Nah, I want you to know.  That way we can get it out and never have to bring it up again.”  He continued, “We were coming from my oldest son’s birthday party my parents had thrown him at their home.  He was turning eight.  We needed to go pick up groceries before we went home so we went to the party in separate vehicles to have room for the food.   I drove our pick-up truck while she drove the kids in our car in front of me.  The car was full.  My two son’s Alex and Seth, my wife, my niece and oldest nephew.  Halfway to the store a drunk driver crossed the lanes and ran into them head on.  I was about two cars behind them.  Immediately the car went up in flames.  When I got to them I pulled over and tried to get them out but the doors were jammed.  I couldn’t save them.  Not one of them.  I had to watch them burn.  Their screams and cries.  He paused again and closed his eyes his jaws clenched.

“My God,” Briana said.

His eyes glistened with fresh tears threatening to descend down his face as he relived the horrific accident.  Briana got up from the table and went to him.  At the moment boundaries were not thought of as she reached to console him.  She pulled at his chair and he allowed her to comfort him.  In his lap she sat and held him as he breathed heavily into her neck fighting back the breakdown that tried to consume him.

“The memory still hurts,” he said.

“I am so sorry I asked,” Briana said. “Please let’s change the subject.  Are you okay?”

“I was able to save you,” he said his voice tight.  “Ever since that day I have devoted my time to saving people in similar situations.  No family should ever have to watch a love one die that way.”

Briana felt chills flow through her.  This had to be the reason he was so caring when it came to her.  He truly was her guardian angel.

“I’m okay.  How are you?” he asked.

“I was better before I opened my big mouth.”

His honey brown eyes searched hers.  Charles felt her sincerity and raw emotion ran through his gut.  He was aware of her warm soft body invading his space and he didn’t mind it one bit.  His lips met hers and they kissed.  A simple kiss at first then his hands wrapped around her waist and their kiss deepened.  He turned her toward him and she straddled his lap.  They devoured each other, his lips sucking the bottom and top of her lips before inserting his tongue in her mouth.  Briana’s stomach was in knots and she savored the taste of him.  A moan left her mouth and found its way down Charles throat which was met with his own barbaric sexually stimulated grunt.  As Briana slightly pulled away from him for air, Charles rained kisses down her chin, across her face and to her neck. Briana felt his arousal grow beneath her which in turn made her body heat up from the bottom of her toes to the top of her ears.

In a breathless voice Briana spoke, “Maybe we should slow down.”

After she said it she regretted it.  No way did she want to slow down at least that’s what her body told her.  Charles fervent kisses slowed, he didn’t want to stop either.  Briana had set his emotions on high and every loin in his body wanted her right then right now.  Slowly he sat back his broad shoulders and chest heaving forcing himself to comply with her wishes.

“That wasn’t very Christ like, now was it?” Charles said with little amusement.

Briana fidgeted, “It’s just that,” she searched for the right words to say “I don’t want our love making to be in vain.  I don’t want it to happen because you’re feeling vulnerable right now.”

Charles regarded her for a long moment his thick eyelashes hovering over his strong penetrating gaze.  His tongue swept across his bottom lip as he assessed her, tasting the sweetness she left lingering on his mouth. “I can assure you,” he said his voice deep and husky “when we do make love there will be nothing vain about it.”

Briana’s breathing quickened, she stood her breast rubbing against his face.  Before he could stop himself his hands griped her waist and he stood picking her up her legs instantly wrapped around him, with one arm he pushed his dinner plate to the floor sending it crashing.  Charles laid her down on the table pressing his body against hers.  There was a momentary second of pause just long enough for him to give her the chance to stop him.  When she didn’t he leaned down kissing her navel leaving a trail of kisses up her bare flat stomach to the cleft between her breasts.

“Wait,” she said it was barely above a whisper.  He groaned. “I’m sorry,” she said.  Once again she was assaulted by his gaze.  “It’s not that I don’t want to—” her voice trailed off.  He stood letting her legs fall from his waist taking a step back.

“No,” he said, “I’m sorry, I got carried away.”

Briana sat up her body still yearning for him to forget everything she said and have his way with her.  Instead he held out his hand and helped her off the table and pulled her into his arms.  “Have a drink with me.”

“Sure,” she said “Are you trying to get me drunk now?”

He gave her a half smile, “When you’re ready I won’t have to get you drunk trust me.”

She smiled with thoughts of what could be with this handsome man.  “I don’t know whether to be scared of relived.”

“A little bit of both,” he said.

The Lunch Break Series

Here comes another drama filled read from Love Is A Drug, Ink available Saturday April 26, 2014.

Relationships always start out rosy in the beginning, but they never last that way. At least this is what Marissa thought as she watched Nathaniel preparing to go out to God knows where at 11 o’clock at night. What used to be love had turned into regret — to the point that Marissa often despised being around him. Sure, they’ve had their break-ups and their make-ups. But this relationship had grown stale, boring, and sometimes depressing, and Marissa wanted out.

Now Joe, on the other hand, was handsome, flirtatious, and older. He had Christian values and knew what he wanted out of life. Marissa couldn’t deny his obvious charm and magnetic pull towards her and she wanted to find out what being with him was like. However, being a Christian woman herself, her morals wouldn’t allow her to cheat on Nathaniel, even if their relationship was practically over. Or maybe she could get a taste just once. Nathaniel didn’t have to know, and God would forgive her, right? The struggle between knowing when a relationship has run its course or when it’s time to stand strong is real. Is the grass really greener on the other side?

Have you read the first story in The Lunch Break series?

Jasmine Johnson wants nothing more than to be swept off her feet by classmate and cutie Maurice Desmon Jones. Everything about him, from his obvious confidence to his charisma, makes her melt like ice cream on a sundae cone.

One day, someone threatens to challenge her for his affection and Jasmine goes into a jealous rage, unable to control her emotions. Obsession sends her over the edge and there is no turning back. In the eye of a brewing storm, she has to come up with a clever way to get out of the catastrophe she has created and she won’t give up, even if she has to die trying.

Wreckless

The Lunch Break series is not a series of the same story written in parts, it is a series of different short stories, packed with the romance, drama, and suspense that you’re used to reading in my books. The Lunch Break series is only available on e-book. Once you get a taste, you will want to read again and again. Read them on your lunch break, on the train ride home, on the bus, in the back seat of a car, in a waiting room, on the beach, or on an airplane. Wherever you go you are guaranteed to feed your need to read. The series was created to give people who don’t have time to read a full novel the opportunity to get their read on and still be fulfilled the same as if they were reading a full novel. This series was also created with avid readers in mind that have not yet sampled my books and would like to get a peek at my reading style before investing in a full story. Sit back, chill out and enjoy! Tell me what you think about the lunch break series. Which story have you read? Leave your comments below!

Did you miss my interview?

Recently I was a guest on The Q-Spot with Michelle Big Body Cuttino on her blog talk radio channel. It was her one year anniversary and she has reached over 12,000 listeners which is a huge accomplishment. During my stay she asked me about the NanoWriMo challenge I won in November 2013. For you who don’t know NanoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month. It’s a huge fiasco where thousands of writers all over the world get together to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. It was a big task and I’ve recently done this challenge before and failed but this time I was prepared. With my outline in hand I was able to hit the goal of 50,000 words a few days before deadline and it felt good!

We also chatted about my current and upcoming releases. If you didn’t know ‘Wreckless’ is available on Amazon. It’s $1.99 and a part of my Lunch Break series. I go into more detail about the Lunch Break series doing the interview so be sure to check it out.

The Q-Spot One Year Anniversay featuring Me

With the weather being as crazy as it’s been lately It’s good to curl up with a good book. Especially a series. To leave this world and go into the lives of others and experience that kind of escape is good to me. I love reading always have and always will. I just recently finished reading ‘Secret Obsession’ by award winning author Kimberla Lawson Roby. It was nicely done and now I’m reading a book by Nikki Turner. I don’t often read street literature but when I do, it’s Nikki Turner. I like how she throws the love mix in there, if you know me you know I’m a sucker for love. Look out people coming up is my next release also  a part of the Lunch Break series titled; ‘Broken’ all of my books can be found on Amazon, Barnes and Nobles, Kobo, and Smashwords. What was the last book you read let me know, I’m always looking for my next good read!

New Release ‘Wreckless’ a short story

It’s time for a new release from Love Is A Drug, Ink! Writing this story was exciting for me. Being that it is a short story my challenge was to compact the love, drama, action, mystery, and thrills that I write in my full novels. There was no room for error and I couldn’t fall short. I must say, after finishing it and re reading, I was pleasantly surprised. I’ve been a author since 2010. My debut novel was Trouble In Paradise and it took me nine months to write it. I always played with the possibility of writing a short story but always saw it as too big of a challenge. You might say, why? Well because it couldn’t miss anything the full novel had. In other words, it had to have a beginning, a middle, and a end. Let’s face it, I’m pretty long winded. My husband says when I talk about something I go on, and on, and on, about it without coming to an end quickly.

After noticing it myself, I thought that’s just me long winded, so now you can see why writing this story was the biggest challenge. With all that said this story goes off with a bang! It was a joy to read. At one point I call my self proof reading for errors when it came back from my editor and midway into the story I realized I hadn’t been proof reading at all because I’d gotten so caught up into the story. That was a super plus, if I can captivate myself, surely I can captivate you! This story will be priced for $1.99 on Amazon, Barnes & Nobles, Kobo, ibook, and smashwords. It will be available on ebook. Only my full novels will be available for paperback. Wreckless releases on New Years Eve, what a great way to bring in the New Year! Below is the book blurb, check it out!
